Do not rely on advertising to select your attorney. A lawsuit is too important to rely in nicknames, slogans, and actors. What a lawyer has to say about himself or herself through advertising only tells you what he or she is willing to say or do to get your attention.

Board certifications will tell you that a recognized organization has confirmed that the attorney has relevant experience in the area of specialization, has passed a rigorous exam, and has been favorably recommended for certification by lawyers and judges familiar with that attorney and area of legal practice. The board certified attorney continues to stay abreast of current changes in this practice area with ongoing continuing education and a required percentage of practice in that particular field of practice.
Ask for Recommendations
We encourage you to ask people who work at the courthouse who they would hire as their attorney and why. Judges are perhaps the best source for information about an attorney’s professional skills and ethics. Former clients are also a good avenue of investigation.
