Pipeline Operator Under-Spent On Pipeline
Replacement
Pacific Gas & Electric a major California utility company spent an astounding 183 million dollars less on pipeline repairs and replacement which was authorized by the State of California between 1987 to 1999. The California utility commission acknowledges it has no idea what PG&E actually spent the money on, but officials speculate it was used for other operational needs or kept for retained earnings. PG&E has been in the spotlight recently because of the San Bruno aging gas pipeline explosion that killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes.

California Judge Orders PG&E to Test or Replace
Aging Gas Pipelines
A California State Judge has issued a plan that requires PG&E and all gas transmission pipeline operators to conduct pressure tests or replace pieces of the pipelines. The judge issued the proposal on Tuesday but the commission still needs to approve it. The testing of aging gas pipelines became an issue after the explosion last year which killed eight people, injured dozens and destroyed 38 homes.
