Wildfire Warning
Wildfire Warning Issued
While the wildfires on Sunday February 27, 2011 were devastating, things could have been worse. But thanks to the work of the Texas Forest Service, the advance notice received gave Texas time to send in more people and equipment. Experts have found that a specific combination of wind speed, temperature, relative humidity and plant dryness dictated the wildfire outbreaks. If the conditions weren't right, few fires would start. If they were right, disaster might ensue.
