Health officials are requesting that birth control pills, including the widely used Yaz and Yasmin, update the risk information to include recent data suggesting a higher risk of blood clots with use of the drug. The FDA panel of experts voted 21-5 that labeling made by Bayer is inadequate. A recent study by the FDA found women taking Yasmin had a 75% greater chance of suffering a blood clot than patients taking a combination of other drugs.
